Measuring rope correctly
A good line starts with the right size. Below you can read how to measure the diameter, the length of an eye and a loop or soft shackle. Not sure? Feel free to ask us. A photo or drawing helps us too.
1Diameter
- Tape the rope as tightly as possible and measure it with an official rope gauge.
- Most accurate: check the invoice for the line you ordered last time.
2Length of an eye
- The eye length is the distance from the start of the splice to the end of the eye.
- If you do not specify one, we make the eye 150 cm as standard, always with a protective sleeve.
3Loop and soft shackle
- Measure on the inside of the eye, fully stretched.
- Always state what load the loop or soft shackle must be able to carry.
- For a soft shackle we work with a breaking strength 10% below that of the rope. That is the maximum breaking load.
